Hi, Merryn here!

From a young age, I’ve been passionate about horticulture. Coming from generations of enthusiastic gardeners, I’ve spent years exploring and researching the areas of gardening and design that inspire me most. I've found great influence in the work of renowned garden designers and horticulturalists such as like Piet Oudolf, Nigel Dunnett, Jelle Grintjes and Beth Chatto, often studying their gardens in person as well as through their writing. I also regularly visit the beautiful gardens right here on our doorstep in the South West—Trebah, Heligan, and many of the incredible National Trust gardens, to name just a few. Gardens have always been a big part of my life, and my aim is to share the joy and connection I feel with them through the spaces I help create.

Growing up in Cornwall, I’ve always felt lucky to be surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. My childhood was spent surfing, fishing, and exploring the beaches, coves, woodlands, and gardens that make this part of the world so special. This connection to the landscape has given me a deep appreciation for our environment, as well as a strong understanding of Cornwall’s unique climate and the many microclimates across the region. I’ve grown up immersed in nature and beauty, and it’s my passion to bring that sense of wonder and calm into others’ lives through their own outdoor spaces.

I have been involved in garden projects from a young age, starting with the landscaping and development of our family garden. This involved creating of 3 ponds, installing large flowerbeds, an outdoor dining area and several paved areas surrounded by diverse and carefully chosen planting.

Throughout my twenties, I broadened my skill set by working in a range of related trades—including landscaping, carpentry, stone masonry, groundworks, and gardening. In 2019, I decided to take the plunge and start my own gardening business, and since then I’ve had the pleasure of working on a wide variety of gardens and small estates.

I grew up on the Rame Peninsula in South East Cornwall, and after a couple of years living in Portugal, I’m now residing in central Cornwall—giving me good access to the county. I take on gardens that feel like a good fit, whether that’s the client, the location, or the style and character of the space. I’m always willing to travel for projects; my passion for sharing the beautiful inspirations I’ve gathered has even taken me back to Portugal for design work.
